- Order TFI Co. bandsaw blades online
A correct bandsaw blade order needs five pieces of information: blade length, width and thickness, tooth pitch (TPI), the material and section you cut, and the quantity. This guide shows how to find each one, explains the two ways TFI Co. supplies blades (welded loops or 500 m coils), and lists exactly what to include so your quotation comes back right the first time.
Step 1: Find the blade length
Every bandsaw takes one blade length, so this is the measurement that must be exact. Use the first method that applies:
- Machine plate or manual: most machines state the blade size as length x width x thickness, for example 4115 x 34 x 1.1 mm.
- Old blade: the size is often printed or etched on the back of the blade near the weld.
- Measure the old blade: lay a strip of tape on the floor, mark a tooth and a matching point on the tape, roll the blade one full turn until the mark returns to the floor, mark again and measure between the two marks.
- Measure the machine: with the tension wheel at its normal working position, measure the centre distance between the wheels (C) and the radius of each wheel (R1 and R2). Blade length is approximately (R1 x 3.1416) + (R2 x 3.1416) + (2 x C).
The machine method gives a guide only. Set the tension slide around the middle of its travel before measuring, so the new blade can be tensioned correctly.
Step 2: Measure width and thickness
Width is measured from the back edge of the blade to the tips of the teeth; thickness (gauge) is the thickness of the band body, measured with a caliper or micrometer away from the teeth. Your machine is designed for a specific width and thickness, and its guides are set for that thickness, so match the old blade rather than changing size.
TFI Co. M42 bi-metal blades are produced in the following standard width x thickness combinations:
| Width x thickness (mm) | Inch equivalent | Available in |
|---|---|---|
| 19 x 0.9 | 3/4 x .035 | BAM, Yazd, Qom |
| 27 x 0.9 | 1 x .035 | BAM, Yazd, Qom, Kish |

Step 3: Choose the tooth pitch (TPI)
TPI is the number of teeth per inch (25.4 mm). Fewer, larger teeth suit large solids because the gullets carry more chips. More, smaller teeth suit thin walls, because at least three teeth must be in the cut at all times.
Variable pitch blades, written as two numbers such as 4/6, mix tooth sizes to reduce vibration and cover a wider range. They are the usual choice for tube, structurals and bundles. The table gives typical starting points for steel; each blade type page lists the pitches made in each width.
| Material section | Size | Typical TPI |
|---|---|---|
| Solid bar | Up to 30 mm | 8/12 or 10/14 |
| Solid bar | 30 to 80 mm | 5/8 or 6/10 |
| Solid bar | 80 to 150 mm | 4/6 |

Step 4: Describe the material and section
Tell us what you cut: the grade (mild steel, alloy steel, stainless, tool steel, cast iron, aluminium, copper or bronze), the shape (solid, tube, beam, angle, channel, profile) and whether you cut single pieces or bundles. This decides the tooth geometry as well as the pitch:
TFI Co. blade types
General purpose blade for metals and mild steel, beams, angle and channel.
Structural materials, thick-wall tube and stainless steel.
Super alloys, copper, bronze, tool and stainless steels.
Tube, profiles and small bundles prone to vibration.
Butcher blades for fresh and frozen meat and bone.

Step 5: Choose welded loops or coils
TFI Co. supplies bulk orders in two forms. Choose the one that fits how your workshop runs.
Option 1: Welded loops
Blades welded to the exact length of your machine, ready to fit. Suited to busy factories with several bandsaw machines that want quality and price without welding blades in-house. Supplied in orders of more than 10 loops, for clients in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman.
Option 2: Coils of 500 m
Blade stock in packs of 500 m for clients with their own bandsaw welding machines equipped with annealing. Up to 30 km per year per client. Suited to industrial clients and resellers across the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia.
Coils only make sense if you can weld and anneal reliably: an unannealed weld is brittle and will break in the machine. If you do not have a welder with annealing, order welded loops.

Ordering questions
What if I do not know my blade length?
Send the machine make and model, or measure the old blade by rolling it one turn along the floor. If neither is possible, send the wheel centre distance and wheel diameters and we will work out the length with you.
Can I order a single blade?
TFI Co. supplies bulk orders: welded loops in orders of more than 10, or coils in 500 m packs. Contact us through the order form to discuss your requirement.
Which TPI should I order if I cut many different sizes?
Order for the section you cut most often, and keep a second pitch for the extremes. A variable pitch blade such as 5/8 or 4/6 covers a wide range of general workshop sizes.
Do I need special equipment to use coils?
Yes. You need a bandsaw blade butt welder with annealing to join and temper the weld, plus a grinder to dress it. Without annealing the weld will be brittle.
Will your blades fit my machine from another maker?
Yes. Blades are made to the length, width and thickness your machine takes, whatever the brand.
How should I run a new blade?
Break it in at a reduced feed rate, roughly half of normal, for the first cuts, then raise the feed gradually. This protects the new tooth tips and extends blade life.
